Description

Join park rangers after dark to observe moths and other insects of the night. Entomologists Dr. Sarah Reilly and Dr. James Reilly will set up special lights that draw in amazing species of moths and other insects. You'll probably see over a hundred different species in one night!

Moths represent one of the most diverse animal groups on Earth. Did you know that there are over two thousand species of moths in Virginia? They are a crucial part of our ecosystem, and they keep our world running! Moths come in many shapes, sizes, and colors, from the tiniest micro-moth with metallic gold stripes to the giant silkmoths bigger than your hand. Bring a flashlight, and come learn more about the lives of these fascinating creatures.

Event may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
