What Chesapeake Bay feature are you thankful for?

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and we’re thankful for so many Chesapeake Bay things this year. From ospreys, rockfish and cattails to your favorite parks and rivers, take a moment to tell us what feature of the Chesapeake Bay makes you especially thankful to live and play near the nation’s largest estuary.

Around our office, we've heard people express their thanks about a lot of Chesapeake Bay things...here's a few!

• Delicious crabs for crab dip!
• The Canada geese that return to my neighborhood every fall, honking every morning like an alarm clock
• The wildlife and scenery at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge
• Fishing for rockfish from my boat
• The reflections of fall foliage on the Bay's waterways
• Freshwater rivers with no jellyfish and dolphins in the salty bay
• The many different ways you can use the Bay year-round: sitting on a pier observing wildlife, canoeing and kayaking on calm waters, sailing and boating in the deeper waters, fishing, swimming, hiking... the possibilities are endless and I can't wait to explore them all!
• Spectacular sunsets over the Eastport drawbridge in Annapolis
• The arrival of our baby diamondback terrapins! They will be raised in our office until they're large enough to go back out on their own as part of the Terrapin Institute program!
• The variety of environments found in the Bay watershed: the mountains, the beach, the countryside and the city are all within an hour's drive! There are so many accessible options that I look forward to exploring with my family.
